20% of funding reached!

Written by gus. Posted in Uncategorized

You guys are amazing. All of you.

We’ve reached 20% of the minimum funding level, and we’re going strong.

As you can imagine we’re more excited than ever about the project and can’t wait to put the pedal to the metal, but we need your help now more than ever – make sure to spread this website as far and wide as you can, and if there’s a specific person or company you think we should be talking to, please let us know!

We need you, and we love you like a fat kid loves cake.

Full steam ahead

The project is well under way and we’ve been getting lots of support!

These days we spend quite a bit of time searching for a car, filling out extra visa papers, searching for a car, putting together an exact packlist, figuring out which car is best, and other more practical things. Right, like making sure we know “the lay of the land” – what parts of the journey we might need to modify our car to be able to manage.

The few people we’ve managed to find who have done something like this before have all gone to strange mechanics/garages in the middle of nowhere because it turns out they had to some how raise their car a few more inches of the ground. There are tales of a Romanian mechanic in Kyrgyzstan with just those skills. He can apparently magic together fixes for any car, in any state. We want to meet this mechanic, and we want him on our team.

Naturally we get significantly less sleep these days, but we figure old Ian Fleming said it best “I’ll sleep when I’m dead”.

Chitty Chity Bang Bang. Apparently the third google images result when searching for "Ian Fleming mechanic"

So. About that launch…

Written by gus. Posted in Uncategorized

Yea ok so let’s say that first launch was a “beta test”.

Let’s go with that.

We’ve received lots and lots of great feedback and we’ve been busy implementing everything – in the video, on the site, the rewards, well.. Everything. Our aim is to have the new version of the site launched tonight. Yep, that’s another promise we’re making! Everything done tonight!

Other updates on what’s been going on:

- Me and Mr. Lejfjord have gotten double passports since we both travel for work and our normal passports are.. erm.. somewhere in central Asia. Getting visas stamped all over them.

- On that note, we’ve gotten our visa applications accepted for Kazahkstan and Kyrgyzstan! The rest are being processed as we speak.

- We’ve been hooking up insurances to cover everything almost everything that might  will go wrong. So that’s good and our respective/collective loved ones are very pleased with us. They’re still mad at us for going through with the project in general though.

- It’s late. I’m tired. Apparantly blogging counts as working on this project. That’s pretty cool I guess.

- So I’m working now? Awesome.

- Work.

Heh. I’m getting out of control. Time to sign off.

See you
